Helpful Journal Prompts to Overcome Writers Block

Most days my mind is overflowing with things I want to write down, so they can leave my mind alone. Occasionally though, I get stuck and struggle to get into my flow! I've found a few different tricks to help me work through my block and listed a few of these below.

  • I don't know what to write about today. What can I write about?
(This usually gets me started in some kind of rant about the day and then I can get into my writing flow)
  • Today SOMETHING really bothered me, it made me feel like SOMETHING
  • Today, THIS REALLY AWESOME THING happened and I feel wonderful about it
  • I don't really know what to write, so I am starting out with all the things I can be grateful for today (then start to write down what you can be grateful for)
  • I don't know why I feel stuck. I am struggling to find words today. (And keep writing these sorts of sentences until something comes - I usually only get through about four sentences before words start to flow)
  • I feel like ...
  • I want to ...
  • I wish I could ...
  • I am frustrated because ...
  • I am grumpy about ...
  • I am happy about ...
  • I am excited about ...

Hopefully one of these will help you if you are stuck or don't really know how to start!!

Have you got any suggestions for me? I am always happy to add more if you have something of value!! Let me know!
